HOW TO USE YOUR DISC AND CUP

Using and Cleaning a Menstrual Cup and Disc

Before First Use:

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
  2. Sterilize the menstrual cup or disc by boiling it in water for 5-10 minutes or following the manufacturer's instructions.

Insertion:

  1. Fold the menstrual cup into a "C" or "U" shape.
  2. Relax your muscles and insert the cup into your vagina, aiming toward the base of the spine.
  3. Once inserted, rotate the cup to ensure it opens fully and forms a seal against the vaginal walls.
  4. For the menstrual disc, squeeze the sides together and insert it into the vagina with the wider rim facing upward. Push it back as far as it will go until it sits below the cervix.

Wearing:

  1. The menstrual cup or disc can be worn for up to 12 hours, depending on your flow.
  2. Empty the cup or disc every 4-12 hours, depending on your flow and the cup's capacity.
  3. To remove, pinch the base of the cup to release the seal and gently pull it out. For the disc, hook your finger under the rim or ring pull and gently pull it out, keeping it horizontal to prevent spills.

Cleaning:

  1. Wash the cup or disc with mild, unscented soap and water every time you empty it.
  2. Rinse the cup or disc thoroughly to remove any soap residue.
  3. Sterilize the cup or disc between cycles by boiling it in water for 5-10 minutes.
  4. Avoid using harsh chemicals, scented soaps, or douches, as they can disrupt the pH balance of the vagina.
  5. Store the cup or disc in a breathable pouch or container when not in use.
  6. Inspect the cup or disc regularly for signs of wear and tear, such as tears, discoloration, or odor.
  7. Replace the cup or disc as recommended by the manufacturer, usually every 1-2 years.

By following these steps for proper usage and cleaning, you can ensure a safe and hygienic experience with your menstrual cup or disc.
